DESCRIPTION
Black Swan’s 20° Muriatic Acid is 28% hydrochloric acid, 20° Baume. It can be used to etch concrete floors and walls prior to painting, cleaning brick and cement, removing rust stains from toilet fixtures, removing rust from metal, and adjusting the pH of swimming pools.
This product contains no inhibitors and will attack metal after rust is removed. To neutralize this acid action on the metal, make a solution of water and heavy duty detergent and rinse thoroughly. Then follow with plenty of water.
DIRECTIONS
- Always wear protective clothing. Rubber gloves and plastic safety glasses are strongly recommended.
- Carefully open cap to avoid splashing.
- Determine what concentration of 20° Muriatic Acid to use by examining Table A.
- When diluting 20° Muriatic Acid always pour acid into water and avoid splashing. Only use plastic container for mixing.
- If acid is bubbling when applied, then solution is strong enough. If acid is not bubbling slightly increase the strength of the solution.
- Flush thoroughly with water immediately after cleaning or etching is completed - usually 1 to 2 minutes.
- FOR SWIMMING POOLS: Always use a testing kit when adjusting pool for correct acid balance. A pH check should be made as often as chlorine check. The pH should be between 7.2 and 7.8. Use approximately one quart per 10.000 gallons if pH is above 8.0. Keep swimmers out of pool until acid is thoroughly dispersed in water.
PRECAUTIONS
DANGER
Avoid breathing fume, gas, mist, vapors, and spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, and face protection.

FIRST AID
Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin: Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Rinse skin with water/shower. Get immediate medical attention.
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do so, continue rinsing. Get immediate medical attention.
Ingestion: Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs keep head low so that stomach content does not get into lungs.
